OVERVIEW

Ngorongoro Crater, also known as the Unbroken Caldera, is a geo-park and UNESCO World Heritage site located in northern Tanzania, just 2.5-3 hours’ drive from Arusha. This stunning crater was formed when a massive volcano erupted and collapsed around two to three million years ago. It’s renowned for its geological features and as a wildlife sanctuary home to some of the highest concentrations of large mammals in Africa. The descent into the Crater is an adventure in itself, and once at the bottom, you’ll encounter large herds of wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, and over 500 bird species.
