Description of the Canoe Safari
On this 2-2.5-hour tour, you’ll explore part of the Momella Lakes in Arusha National Park by canoe. These lakes were formed around 250,000 years ago when Mount Meru erupted, creating seven alkaline lakes. The lakes are an ideal habitat for a wide variety of birds, including greater and lesser flamingos, pelicans, and African fish eagles. The park is home to nearly 600 different bird species.
As you paddle along the shorelines, you’ll have the opportunity to spot birds up close and watch wildlife such as giraffes and buffaloes grazing along the water’s edge. You might also catch a glimpse of the elusive Colobus Monkey swinging through the trees. This canoe safari offers a relaxing yet exciting experience.
On clear days, enjoy stunning views of Mount Meru, and if you’re lucky, you might even see Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance.
Fun Fact: Arusha National Park is home to the world’s largest giraffe population.
